Ms. Gabrielle Haston

Ms. Haston has taught at Dade Middle and Dade County High since 2007. She is the Fine Arts, Foreign Language and Physical Education Dept Chair at DCHS. She served as the GMEA District VII Choral Chair from 2016-2020. Ms. Haston also works as an Assistant Director for the training and touring choirs of the Chattanooga Boys Choir. She is a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the National Association for Music Educators, the Georgia Music Educators' Association, and the American Choral Directors' Association.

She has presented professional development sessions on best practices for middle and high school music education at the Georgia Music Educators Association's yearly conference, as well as at several local universities including Berry College and UTC. Ms. Haston has also been a guest conductor for the 2019 Floyd County Middle School Treble Honor Chorus and the 2023 Carroll County HS Mixed Honor Chorus. 

Ms. Haston graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education in 2007.  She received Highest Honors for her Departmental Honors Thesis: Physiological Changes in the Adolescent Female Voice: Applications for Choral Instruction.  Ms. Haston is gift-certified, as well as being a certified Kodály Music Educator.  She completed her certification at the Kodály Institute at UTC in Summer 2011.   Ms. Haston also received her Masters of Education-Secondary: The Arts in Summer 2013 from UTC. 

Ms. Haston grew up in Rossville, GA where she lived with her parents and two sisters till she married her high school sweetheart. She and her husband reside in Chattanooga with their two children. As a family, they enjoy spending the weekends and breaks traveling and exploring.  Ms. Haston enjoys yoga, hiking, loves coffee, a good book, in addition to randomly breaking out into song and dance.
